No. Official CPI calculators (like the U.S. BLS one) compound a measured year-by-year index. This calculator assumes one constant rate across the whole period, which is faster but less precise.
It is roughly the long-run U.S. average since 1913, but recent decades have been lower (closer to 2%) and individual years have spiked far higher — 2022 saw U.S. CPI above 8%. If you are translating across a specific period, look up the actual average rate for those years and override the default.
